10 Successful Blogs in Various Niches + 2 Traits They All Share
Hey, bloggers! If you’re looking for successful blogs, it’s likely you are looking for how to make money as a blogger…
You’re probably asking the same question I did when I started…
What do six-figure bloggers have in common?
This was the question that I was perplexed with during our climb out of our unfulfilling, full-time jobs on the road to becoming full-time bloggers.
I knew that we’d have to model these people if we wanted to succeed…
But only after a few weeks of research, the answer became abundantly clear.
It seemed everyone was monetizing in the same ways, so the decision on where we needed to focus became obvious…
There are just two ways 99% of six-figure bloggers make their money:
Yep, that’s it.
The only exceptions I could find were blogs that pull in multiple millions of visitors with hundreds and thousands of pieces of content published.
These successful blogs in my mind have transitioned from blogging to publishing often posts 5+ articles per day.
Ain’t no small blogger like you or I have time to write thousands of posts.
There are incredibly few exceptions to this rule.
Let me drive home this point with some examples.

Moving on to our roundup of 10 successful blogs in various niches…
Smart Passive Income by Pat Flynn (Start an Online Business)
I actually met him not too long ago at the Traffic and Conversion Summit:
Pat has taken his successful blog all the way to six figures selling primarily high-priced affiliate products. However, he did just have his highest month ever, making 200,000+ selling his own digital products and high-priced affiliate products.
Making Sense of Cents (Personal Finance Blog)
Michelle is a stud over at making sense of cents and has been making six figures blogging for quite a while now.
Her primary income source was affiliate income until she launched her own digital product, and now it’s split. She often makes six figures in a single month!
Learning Herbs (Herbs)
John Gallagher makes $20,000+ per month and pulls in the majority of his income from his digital membership (last time I checked). It’s likely he makes a lot more now!
The majority of his income comes from digital training that he sells via a membership on his website.
Just a Girl and Her Blog (Lifestyle Blog)
Abby and her husband Donny have climbed to the top of the lifestyle bloggers list, clearing the six-figure mark with ease.
Last time they published an income report, they made $41,700 per month from digital products and printables.
Digital-Photography-School (Taking Great Photos)
Darren Rowse, also the owner of Pro-blogger, created his second six-figure successful blog on digital photography niche (one of Darren’s passions).
They make their money selling online courses and linking to high-priced affiliate products (cameras, lenses, etc.).
Melyssa Griffin (Make Money Online)
Melyssa is a beast, and I wouldn’t feel right NOT including her on this list. She posted profits in the 200,000+ range last month and is one cool cat.
She makes the large bulk of her revenue (95%+) selling her own digital products and services.
Avocadu (Health and Wellness)
Yes, for those of you that didn’t know… This is one of our successful blogs on health and wellness!
We took our blog, Avocadu, to six figures in its first year actually. Now, we regularly make $20,000 – $30,000 per month passively on the blog.
Fluent in 3 Months (Language Learning)
Benny built his six-figure blog to help people learn new languages in 3 months or less and has been featured on The 4-Hour Body, The New York Times, and many others.
He makes the vast majority of his income on digital products and services as well.
Timothy Sykes (Penny Stock Trading)
Timothy built up a massive, successful blog where he advertises teaching students how to become millionaires selling penny stocks.
He makes well into seven figures with his blog/business and kills it on his Instagram as well.
Study Hacks (Be a Better Student)
His blogging career was used to leverage his career as an author.
Guys, this list could go on forever.
Look at almost any successful blogger out there and see how they are making their money.
Unless they have multiple millions of visitors, they are selling high-priced affiliate products OR digital products and services.
Ads, sponsored posts, and other “low-income” monetization methods are occasionally used, but end up being completely supplemental to the bulk of their other income.
If you want to be a successful blogger, you must begin with the end in mind.
If you just want to be a hobby blogger and build up a little passive income, then that’s fine. But for those of you who want to make six figures blogging: THIS IS THE WAY.
You need to focus your time, energy, and effort on selling high-priced digital products and services via affiliate marketing or creating your own.
Any other route is a waste of time!
