Blog Income Report February 2017 – $31,694.08 Blogging
Hey, blogging family! Welcome to our blog income report February 2017 for our health and fitness blog!
For those new to seeing these income reports, they may come across as a little strange.
For those of you who understand the deal-io, you can skip past this brief explanation to the “Show me the money!” section.
There are lots of folks out there talking about making money online.
I can’t get through my Facebook news feed these days without seeing an advertisement of some rando with a big cheesy smile talking about their life changing webinar… LOTS of people running around calling themselves gurus and influencers.
Even worse and more confusing, there are lots of blogging “experts” that only make money blogging about making money blogging.
The sad truth about some of these “experts” is that they didn’t make money online until they began to teach other people how to make money online…
Which is pretty unhelpful if you have a blog on an unrelated topic.
Just so you know, the blog that we took from $0 all the way up to 10k+ per month in less than a year is in the health and wellness niche: Avocadu.com.
We found great success (and a lot of failures along the way) in that blog BEFORE we started this one. Our income reports are solely based on Avocadu’s performance.
They are not only a way for us to inspire you and show you the potential of making money online and how to make money blogging, but it’s a way for us to connect with you and help you avoid the many mistakes we made on our own journey.
We know that it’s pretty strange having our friends, family, and loved ones knowing how much money we make, but that’s the tradeoff we choose for the transparency this provides.
Also, we pay attention to the other big bloggers that do income reports… And frankly, they inspire us.
Sometimes just knowing that life-changing income is possible is all the mind needs to move forward past the pain of starting out.
These reports help fan Lauren and I’s flame… It gives us the fire to do better and to push harder. The extra nudge to put in those extra 2 hours at the end of a long day. I think that stuff matters.
We hope this goes to help you better understand why we post these reports. 😛 Show me the money!

One phrase to describe this month:
Here’s what we learned and what you should know about:
We had our second-highest month ever.
We decided to focus all of January and February to building up Avocadu and making it as good as we could get it, and it looks like it’s paying off.
Running two blogs and a popular Youtube Channel can be a bit distracting.
So, we ended up leaving Create and Go on autopilot for the time being to help focus in on Avocadu and making it very, very strong.
We stopped traveling and just focused on building our businesses in Austin, TX.
This was the right move for now.
Our goal is to build Avocadu to about 30k per month on passive income, and I think we are closing in on it.
Just a few more tweaks and maybe one more program, and it will be pretty automatic.
Here are some of the experiments we ran…
After the Challenge Lifestyle Program Launched
In this month, we launched a completely new program called After the Challenge for those that finish the 21-Day Challenge and wonder: What’s next??
It took months to prepare it and was surprisingly stressful putting everything together.
The reason for the stress: We started building before asking what people wanted.
We basically put together the program based on our assumptions of what people wanted, and then only after we had already spent TONS of hours on structuring the program did we even ask our followers for what they actually WANTED.
They came back with a whole lot of feedback we didn’t expect…
For instance, many of them preferred eBooks over videos.
You better believe we will be surveying our audience BEFORE building another product.
The irony is that people wanted less than we expected, and it was not too difficult to complete the program.
The launch of the eBook and program rolled over through the end of February and the beginning of March.
I do hope once the dust settles, it adds another $100 or so per day to what Avocadu does. Not life changing money, but another revenue stream setup on autopilot.
Takeaway: This was a successful experiment but not as successful as I would have liked. I honestly expected more people to purchase the program than did.
Our Probiotic Supplements are Killing It
$4,000 last month, huh?
That’s pretty sweet, I guess. 😉
I’m really happy to see the continued success they are having and the fact that our customers are really enjoying them.
I love them too and get them fo’ free!
Ads? Really, Alex?
This is maybe the most interesting update I have for you at this time.
We decided to throw ads on our health and fitness website as a simple experiment to see what would happen.
And you know what? They exceeded my expectations.
This shocked me. I expected at least SOME backlash from the ads, but there was really nothing.
This sort of revenue is also the definition of passive…
I don’t want to jump the gun, but it looks like adding Ad Thrive to our blog is going to provide us a $3,000 – $5,000 per month bump for hardly any extra work.
That’s a big fat W.
Takeaway: You may be thinking: “I guess I should put ads on my blog!”
Hold up there, cowgirl. I would wait until you have good traffic and a proven product.
Because we have lots of traffic and a good bounce rate, we were able to work with a premium ad network like Ad Thrive. They took care of everything including the installation.
Also, I could easily measure the clicks to our current pages and if they dropped once installing the ads.
Yoga Bible Updated with Video
It cost us a cool $3,000 to get professional yoga videos completed for a big update with our Yoga Fat Loss Bible.
We have the page up and the program updated, but it will take a month or so to feel out how the experiment worked out…
We’ll let you know! 😉
Experiments we are running in the coming month:
Retargeting Ads for the 21-Day Challenge
So, the problem we have run into with ads with our health and fitness website is this: Because we sell a weight loss product, the ads we can run are very limited.
There are a lot of shady fools in this space, to be honest.
That being said, I believe we have come up with a work around that will allow us to run retargeting ads to people who have visited the 21-Day Challenge sales page.
I’m also planning on finding a FB person to run some for us to test and see.
It should be interesting.
Yoga Sales Page Updates and Changes
We’re going to be experimenting with the best way to sell the videos we had made with the existing Yoga Fat Loss Bible.
We will be running all sorts of tests on this and reporting our results back later on.
Considering Affiliate Marketing Our Products
With our current growth and consistent sales, I didn’t really have a reason to look into affiliate marketing our products.
Lauren and I just wanted to continue to grow on our own. We thought we were doing a pretty bang-up job, anyway.
However, I have been rethinking this model for a few reasons:
- We have two incredible products people LOVE.
- They both have an insanely low refund rate (virtually 0).
- They have an awesome conversion rate even with colder traffic.
- We have a loyal community ready to help new people.
- We have a lot of experience at this point selling our products.
So, my thought goes something like this:
Instead of promoting the products ourselves, what if we leveraged an audience like Clickbank or another affiliate marketplace? What if we got everybody else promoting and sending traffic to our awesome offer while we sat back and simply managed the thing?
Sounds pretty great to me.
Less content creation, but I’m sure that would be replaced with managing affiliates. It’s an interesting thought with LOTS of pros and cons.
So my question is this…
Would you like to sell our products?
For real, I want to know…
Let me know in the comments section below if being an affiliate for us is something you’d be interested in.
The more people speak u,p the more likely I’m going to be to pull the trigger on this thing.
That being said, this book solidifies Elon Musk as someone I would totally fan girl over if I see him.
This dude is a part of some of the most inspirational companies in the world.
- Space X – Trying to get us to colonize Mars
- Tesla – Turning electric cars from a joke to a serious thing
- Solar City – Powering the world with solar power
- Paypal – Multi-billion dollar payment processing company
- AND AS A SIDE PROJECT HE’S SETTING UP A HYPERLOOP TO HELP PEOPLE GET ACROSS CALIFORNIA FASTER
This fact fills me with a twinge of guilt be told. I know I do good work, help lots of people, and have no problem facing myself in the mirror.
Look at this guy makes me feel like what am I doing with my life.
I’m glad there are books like this ,because it helps keep me humble and working hard. It gives me that reality check I need. It also inspires me to think bigger.
Highly recommended for any entrepreneur.
I’m pumped about continuing to grow and move forward.
